NEWS FLASH: Saturday 17 October 2026

Wildlife Ranching South Africa celebrated their 20th anniversary during the 2026 WRSA Conference and AGM in Pretoria. At the Gala Dinner before the announcement of the WRSA Game Rancher of the Year 2026, Agriculture Minister Willie Aucamp, a game farmer himself confirmed his commitment to WRSA to take hands with game farmers from the Agricultural Ministry side, as game farming currently falls under the Department Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). The very positive and passionate address by the minister, followed on a equal positive message from economist Dawie Roodt, who’s predictions about the game ranching industry exactly 10 years ago at the WRSA Conference held in Sun City was spot on then.

But the Gala dinner was about honouring their members with awards in the different pillars that makes up the industry, namely Breeder of the Year, Best use of Products, Tourist Establishment, Outfitter/Hunting Establishment and the Game Rancher of the Year awards.

The Wildlife Rancher of the Year Award honours South Africa’s most dedicated and visionary wildlife ranchers. It recognises individuals and teams who show exceptional leadership in conservation, sustainable resource management, and ethical wildlife practices.

Each year, WRSA celebrates those who protect biodiversity, promote innovation in wildlife management, and strengthen rural communities. These ranchers are true stewards of the land, combining business insight with a deep respect for nature and the environment.
