We recently reviewed next level “The Phantom” precision slingshot (“kettie”/“rekker”) design from Ketty Pty Ltd (www.ketty.co.za), which is the top-end of the range in the Ketty Precision Series. However, the range starts off with the Ketty Scout X Series.
The Scout may be an entry-level Ketty Precision model, but it follows the same exceptional design philosophy to be expected, since it shares some pedigree lineage as the Phantom, backed by the Archona (Archon Arms) long-range rifle designers. The Ketty brand is known for their innovation and forward thinking. Although they support the tradition, heritage, and art of kettie (rekker) shooting, the company focuses on The Sport of slingshot shooting. The company classify and define a precision slingshot primarily to have an “adjustable sight”.
The sturdy, lightweight Smart-GripTM is a TMP (Thermal Mouldable Plastic) ergo grip, a superb design unique to KETTY. Simply heat the grip with hot water for a few minutes, let the surface cool, grip and mould it to your hand, and it is set! Unlike similar products made from polymorph the handle does not gel and droop when at moldable temperature. The genius of KETTY design, we have come to expect!
The Scout is an ambidextrous, full-frame slingshot, meaning that the fork (bow) and the handle (core/spine) are one piece. The prongs and clips are exceptionally well-machined for any grade or class of slingshot.
